Matt Dunlap is a lifelong Mainer, experienced public servant, and advocate for working families running to represent Maine’s 2nd Congressional District.
Born and raised on a farm near Bar Harbor, Matt worked as a dishwasher, bartender, and fur trapper before beginning his career in public service. He went on to serve as Maine’s Secretary of State and now serves as State Auditor, where his work has focused on improving government efficiency, eliminating waste and fraud, and saving taxpayers money.
Matt’s roots in Maine also extend well beyond government. He is the former executive director of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine, a founding board member of the Maine Youth Fish and Game Association, and a graduate of the University of Maine.
He’s running for Congress with a focus on the economic pressures facing working families across northern and rural Maine. Matt supports protecting Social Security, making healthcare more affordable, reversing Medicaid cuts affecting rural hospitals, lowering prescription drug costs, expanding access to affordable housing and childcare, and making billionaires and large corporations pay their fair share.
He’s also focused on the rising cost of everyday necessities, from groceries to gasoline, and opposes policies that make it harder for Maine families, farmers, and small businesses to get ahead.
Matt Dunlap has spent decades serving the people of Maine. Now he’s running to bring that experience, and a distinctly Maine perspective on working-class economics and public service, to Congress.
You simply cannot trust Paul LePage with Social Security. Maine seniors earned every dollar, and I'll never let politicians like LePage cut it.
