Marni von Wilpert is a San Diego City Councilmember, former federal labor attorney, and former prosecutor running for Congress in California’s 48th District. Throughout her career, she has focused on public safety, protecting workers’ rights, expanding opportunity for working families, and delivering practical solutions for the communities she serves.
Before entering elected office, von Wilpert worked as a federal labor attorney advocating for workers and ensuring labor laws were enforced fairly. She later served as a prosecutor, building experience in public safety and accountability that would become central to her approach in public service.
In 2020, von Wilpert flipped one of San Diego’s most conservative City Council districts, demonstrating an ability to earn support from both Democratic voters and persuadable independents. She subsequently won reelection and now serves as Chair of San Diego’s Public Safety Committee, where she has focused on improving public safety, supporting first responders, addressing homelessness, and strengthening neighborhood services.
